Hybrid reduced-order modeling framework for linear and nonlinear aerodynamics

  • Combining linear and nonlinear system identification methodologies to capture both linear and nonlinear aerodynamic characteristics with a unified ROM;

  • Both series-connected and parallel-connected hybrid structures are proposed;

  • The series-connected hybrid ROMs are variations of classical Wiener models (dynamic linear block followed by a static nonlinear block), which are called quasi-dynamic Wiener models;

  • The developed coupled and uncoupled hybrid ROMs with a parallel connection are applied to different aeroelastic problems;

  • Furture works include improving the accuracy of such models, excavating more effective coupling schemes and applying current well-established models to complex physical phenomenon.
